Coffee Genome Project

The Coffee Genomics Initiative in Colombia is a unique enterprise that deals with the study of three genomes, the Coffea arabica genome, the genome of the biological control agent Beauveria bassiana and the genome of the coffee berry borer, Hypothenemus hampei. The project was launched in 2003 and to date we have a large collection of EST sequences from the three organisms, a C. arabica BAC library, more than 80.000 BAC-end sequences and we are currently developing functional analysis experiments gaining evidence of the function of predicted genes.
